Biography
I am an all-round academic and economic researcher with almost 13 years progressive experience in agriculture and rural development. My main interests are in CGE modelling and time series analysis of commodities markets, agriculture and rural development, international trade/trade policies and sustainable agribusiness development/management. I have completed a full time PhD Economics degree and my thesis was on the link between bio ethanol crops commodities markets and transport fuel markets. My specific focus area was on the effect of EU transport bio ethanol policy (the blend mandate) on global food production and trade. In this regard, I have a good understanding of global commodities markets and their trade protocols, renewable energy, GHG emissions and climate change, ‘green’ technologies and carbon trading schemes. Having a degree in biochemistry and being a veterinarian also means I have a good understanding of food production chains and non-tariff barriers that can hinder trade in agricultural commodities, e.g. Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) barriers. I am an excellent English speaker with excellent presentational skills and have an advanced working knowledge of French, which I read well. I have a good knowledge of trade modelling tools and I am a member of the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP), which is a CGE multisectoral, multiregional model to simulate policies that have global spillovers.
