Biography
Currently part of HarvestChoice team providing analytical and quantitative support to the 2010 Strategy Refresh of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the area of agricultural production technology. Using national household surveys to extract spatial distribution and characteristics of poor small farm holders in sub-Saharan Africa.

Mel holds a M. Sc. degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. Her thesis was entitled "Rainfall Probability and Income Distribution in Mozambique - A General Equilibrium Approach".

Before joining the GTAP Center in 1997, Melanie received a Masters in International Management degree from the European School of Management (EAP), with a specialization in market finance and information systems. Her first thesis is entitled "Price Risk Management Strategies in Agriculture and the Use of Derivatives - How can European Wheat Growers Hedge Efficiently Against Price Risk?".
