Biography
Yontem completed her undergraduate degree (BA) in Economics at Cyprus International University (North Cyprus), her postgraduate degree (MSc) in Economics at Manchester University and her PhD at Sheffield University. After working six and a half years at the University of Central Lancashire, she joined Manchester Metropolitan University as a senior lecturer.

The research objective of her PhD was to analyze the economic impacts of the enlargement of the European Union both on the existing member states and on the candidate countries. Currently, she is focusing on the economic impacts of a potential EU accession of Turkey. Her research examines the effects of EU’s enlargement on global trade and migration of labor by using a global general equilibrium model – Globe CGE- to conduct simulation experiments.
