"Compilation of the 2005 Asian International Input-Output Table" by Kuwamori, Hiroshi, Yoko Uchida and Chiharu Tamamura Abstract The aim of this paper is to introduce the compilation methodology of the 2005 Asian international input-output table (Asian table) that will be released from the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE) in 2013. IDE and the collaborating institutions in Asian countries have compiled international input-output tables for the Asia-Pacific region for over 30 years. Through the long history of compilation, IDE and collaborating institutions have compiled nearly 50 international input-output tables and have developed various compilation methodologies of the international input-output table in order to provide an illustration of inter-industrial linkage structures across countries in the Asia-Pacific region as accurate as possible. By describing the project outline and the compilation procedure of the latest 2005 Asian table, the paper introduces the compilation methodologies of the international input-output table which include the preparation of national input-output tables of the target year, the survey method of demand structures of imported commodities, estimation of international freight and insurance, the methodology of linking, the reconciliation of discrepancies of trade statistics, etc. The paper also discusses the issues in compilation such as the determination of uniform sector classification, the reconciliation of discrepancies of trade statistics between countries, etc. The paper firstly illustrates the framework of the 2005 Asian table followed by the outline of the projects. Then the paper explains the compilation procedure of the 2005 Asian table. Finally, issues of compilation are also discussed.... |
