"BRAZILIAN AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK: REGIONAL PERFORMANCE AND TECHNOLOGICAL DETERMINERS OF PRODUCTIVITY IN THE CENSUS YEARS OF 1995/96 AND 2006"
by Felema, JoãO and Humberto F.S. Spolador

Abstract
This study analyzed the evolution of liquid productivity of work and land in the Brazilian agriculture and its regions in the census years of 1995/96 and 2006. We measured productivity indexes, identifying differences between regions and influences of the technological variables established in the model, based on data of the Agricultural Censuses of 1995/96 and 2006 of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The procedures are described in the linear panel model to visualize the influence of the variables on the gross production value and on productivity of work and land. We wanted to verify whether the technological variables defined in the econometric model influence and explain changes in production and productivity. The results confirmed the assumption of increased regional and inter-regional disparities of productivity of land and labor in Brazilian agriculture between the census periods, which can also be characterized as structural heterogeneity. The technological variables defined in the econometric model and changes influence production and productivity.
