"Impact of RTAs on the regional heterogeneity in global value chains"
by Song, Zhongwei, Jiaze Sun, Jianwu He, Yan Xia and Shantong Li

Abstract
The China-U.S. relationship is one of the most important bilateral relationships in the world. At present, the strategic competition between China and the United States is intensifying, and the complexity, uncertainty, and uncontrollability of bilateral relations are increasing. The global production system has been greatly impacted, which has accelerated the existing trend of restructuring the global value chains (GVCs). Restructuring the GVCs and reshaping the domestic value chains (DVCs) has gradually become the focus of the developed countries.

Therefore, in this paper, we focus on expanding regional trade cooperation with more countries in the world, to explore the industrial spatial impacts of different RTA scenarios on the GVCs and DVCs. We have constructed a dynamic global computable general equilibrium (DGCGE) model based on the WiNDC model, using the GTAP11 and China's interregional input-output tables in 2017 as the database. We estimate the simulation impact of the following four scenarios: 1) BAU is the U.S.-China trade tariff level and regional trade maintain the status quota scenario; 2) S1 is the strengthening of RTAs in Asian countries scenario; 3) S2 is the strengthening of RTAs in North American countries scenario; 4) S3 is the combination scenario. In the process, the impact of the RTAs on the pattern of GVCs and DVCs under different scenarios is analyzed, as well as the trend of the transformation of the global industrial chain pattern along GVCs and DVCs
