"The energy-water nexus under uncertainty"
Authors: Mohammed, Abdelradi

Abstract
This paper develops a general equilibrium model for an economy where water and energy are limiting factors. The production function is Leontief to reflect the limited access to technology especially in developing countries. The model consists of 4 sectors and three commodities. This representation highlight the importance of water and energy in the production. On top of that we add uncertainty with regard to water supplies and quantify how this uncertainty affects the decision to invest in desalination capacity. We show that under such circumstances the economic growth is very sensitive to changes in input use efficiency and capacity expansion. Finally we solve the model numerically using social accounting data for Egypt from the year 2019. The CGE model is written as an MCP dynamic Ramsey model with endogenous saving and random future path
