"A Food Systems Perspective on Regional Trade Agreements"
Authors: Freund, Florian, Janine Pelikan and Marco Springmann

Abstract
Free trade agreements are primarily implemented for economic reasons, but they are increasingly scrutinised for their impacts on health and sustainability. Here, we take a food systems perspective by analysing the health, environmental, and economic effects of several existing trade agreements, which together account for more than one-fifth of global agri-food trade. Our assessments reveal important trade-offs between economic, health and environmental domains.
