Omid Karami is a postdoctoral research associate at Purdue University—Department of Agricultural Economics, working under the supervision of Dr. Farzad Taheripour. Omid hails from Isfahan province of Iran. He completed his undergraduate studies at Tabriz University (2010) and Master’s at Tehran University (2013) in agricultural economics, looking into the impacts of agriculture on the environment and non-market valuation of environmental services. He worked as a research assistant on a couple of projects at Tehran University between 2014 and 2016 before joining the University of Georgia in 2017 for his doctoral studies. For his Ph.D. dissertation, he worked on the optimal crop rotation for carinata in Georgia and a supply chain model to meet a portion of the Atlanta airport’s jet fuel demand using sustainable aviation fuel from carinata.

At Purdue, Omid is involved in multiple projects, all done by GTAP and funded by the World Bank Group, the United States Federal Aviation Administration, EPA, and National Biodiesel Board.
