Biography
Tasneem works with the United Nations Development Program at the Policy Unit under the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific. She supports research in key areas including the millennium development goals, poverty, employment, trade and inclusive growth. Tasneem is a team member for UNDP's flagship publication on the human development report.

Prior to joining the UNDP, Tasneem worked at the Asian Development Bank where she supported projects and programs to promote trade and economic integration in South Asia. In ADB she co-led the ‘South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation’ program, a project-based initiative between Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. In addition to promoting regional projects in transport and energy, she supported processing subregional trade facilitation and customs modernization program for SASEC countries.

During 2005-2010 Tasneem worked at the GTAP center at Purdue University where she also completed her PhD in Economics in 2009. At GTAP she supported the development of CGE model and data bases. She worked on a wide variety of projects including estimation and calibration of demand system parameters, development of input-output tables from national data, and teaching at the GTAP short and dynamic courses. Her dissertation included developing a trade-facilitation extension of the standard GTAP model that can analyze both costs and benefits of investments in trade infrastructure.
