"Macroeconomic challenges of energy transitions: the case of Algeria"
by Hadjer, Haned, Saloua Chaouche, Bruno Michoud and Frédéric Ghersi

Abstract
Macroeconomic challenges of energy transitions: the case of Algeria” explores the macro and socioeconomic consequences of deep decarbonization pathways for the Algerian economy in the medium term. It is possible through a hybrid modeling connecting KLEM-DZA, a dynamic and recursive bisectoral macroeconomic model (energy and non-energy) model considering the specificities of the Algerian economy, for the technology-rich BU EnerNEO model of the Algerian energy sector. The economy suffers negative consequences in terms of GDP and unemployment with the pro-environment-scenarios. The trade shock strategy needs to be better explained, as it has positive impacts on the economy. The authors can also try to measure the positive environmental impacts and compare them with the negative economic impacts on the Algerian economy.
