Biography
Gouranga Gopal Das, an Indian national, is a Professor (tenured) of Economics at the Department of Economics, Hanyang University, South Korea. Prior to this appointment, he worked as a Visiting Professor of Economics at Kyungpook National University, Korea and as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Florida, USA. He did his MA in Economics at Jadavpur University, Calcutta, India. He obtained his M.Phil and PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India and Monash University, Melbourne, Australia respectively. He received Post-graduate publications award after submitting PhD thesis at Monash University, Australia. He has been visiting researcher in the University of Antwerp, Belgium and UNU-World Institute of Development Economics Research at Helsinki, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, and University of Oregon, USA. Primary fields of his research focus on Trade and Development, Computable General Equilibrium Modeling, Technological Change, Outsourcing, Wage inequality. His book chapter on outsourcing has been published (2013) in an Oxford University Press volume on Handbook of Offshoring and Employment edited by University of California Berkeley authors. Also, he contributed in EU-Asia project on food security (European Union project) and a forthcoming chapter (2013-2014) in Elsevier Encyclopedia on Environment and Land-use. He is enlisted in Marquis Who's Who in 2009 through 2014 and is a recipient of Erasmus Mundus Fellowship along with Hanyang University Distinguished Researcher award in 2010. As an award finalist in the Global Development Network (GDN) competition in 2006, he was a visiting researcher at the IMF, Washington DC. He is editorial member of several journals and serves as referee of several journals, abstract review of Annual Conferences of GTAP .
